16,000 spectators saw how Harry Kane gave the Three Lions an early lead: After a through pass from Raheem Sterling, the striker slid to 1-0 for England (4th). On the other hand, Roman Yaremchuk tested Jordan Pickford in the English goal from close range (17th). In the 33rd minute, Declan Rice pulled from a central position. But his attempt was not placed enough. Ukraine stayed in the game. Shortly before the break, Mykola Shaparenko took heart from 20 meters (43.), but his attempt went well past the right post.
After the break, the English made another lightning start: Harry Maguire headed a free-kick cross from Luke Shaw to make it 2-0 (46th). Shortly afterwards Harry Kane made the preliminary decision after another preparatory work by Shaw: The Tottenham Hotspur striker scored with his head to make it 3-0 (50th).
