The hearing on the writ filed against the order of the Kathmandu District Court to remand Cricketor Sandeep Lamichhane to pre-trial detention has been adjourned. The Kathmandu District Court ordered Lamichhane to be detained pending trial while hearing the charge of extortion.
The hearing scheduled for Thursday on the appeal filed in Patan High Court against the said order has been postponed. In the appeal case of cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, who was jailed for premeditated murder of minors, it was decided on Thursday in the bench of judges Mahendranath Upadhyay and Kiran Kumar Pokharel.
Sandeep appealed to the High Court against the decision of the district court against the order of the district court to run the jail for pre-trial detention. However, the payment on behalf of Lamichhane’s lawyers has been postponed.
In the petition given in the High Court, it is claimed that the age of the girl is above 18 years. It was also claimed that nothing was done even though there was coercion or consent. Sandeep’s lawyers hoped that the proof of birth registration could free Sandeep from jail.
The lawyers who are looking into his case demanded that Sandeep should be released from jail and be able to fight the case. In Thursday’s hearing, it may be decided that Sandeep may be released on bail or that he will remain in jail by upholding the district court’s order. But he had overestimated Sandeep’s lawyer who could be released on bail.
