Kathmandu. Chairman of the ruling Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) and Prime Minister KP Oli has stated that he will not leave any post but will split the party.
Oli reiterated this stance in a conversation with Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda on Friday.
During the discussion between Oli, Prachanda, Bishnu Poudel and Janardan Sharma in Baluwatar, Prachanda had requested to resign from both the posts citing various reasons.
After the meeting with Oli in Baluwatar, Prachanda called some leaders of the secretariat at his residence in Khumaltar and briefed them about the meeting. He told the leaders that no agreement had been reached.
Quoting Prachanda's briefing, senior leader Jhala Nath Khanal told Ratopati, "Prachanda asked Oliji to resign from both the posts and guide the party." But KP Oli said that instead of resigning from both the posts under any circumstances, he would split the party himself. '
Earlier, the standing committee meeting on Thursday adjourned the meeting to resolve the dispute within the party and gave time to seek consensus between the two leaders.
While the dispute between the leaders continued, PM Oli had decided to end the parliamentary session by evading the standing committee meeting and the leaders on Thursday. During a meeting between the two leaders on Thursday, Oli said they would discuss other issues if necessary.
On the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, President Bhandari ended the session of both the Houses of the Federal Parliament on Thursday afternoon and the meeting of the Standing Committee of the CPN (Maoist) was also postponed by two members.
The standing committee meeting is also being held on Saturday. Before that, an attempt will be made to reach an agreement between Oli and Prachanda, said a source close to Prachanda.
