- Italy Government - The extension Identity cards and licenses expired valid until 31 December 2020

Rome,  - An amendment to the relaunch decree has extended the expiry of the identification documents, therefore identity card and driving license, until 31 December 2020, due to the Coronavirus emergency.

The Cura Italia decree provided for an extension of the deadline to 31 August, which has now been further extended until the end of the year.

The Cura Italia decree provided for the extension of documents expiring until 31 August: a provision that concerned documents that expired from 18 March, the date of approval of the provision.

The extension was already valid at the time for both paper and electronic identity cards. The new extension (as well as the previous one), however, applies only to the document in and of itself, while the validity of the document for expatriation remains limited to the expiry date previously provided.

The amendment provides for the replacement of the words "August 31, 2020" with the words "December 31, 2020", changing article 104 of the Cura Italia decree.
