REPUBLICANS Donald Trump and Mike Pence will soon be sworn in as President and Vice President of the United States, in a grand ceremony in Washington, DC.
The inauguration ceremony marks the commencement of a new four-year presidential term. Here is everything you need to know about the historical moment.

WHEN AND WHERE IS THE INAUGURATION?
Trump and Pence will take their oaths at midday on January 20, 2017 (4am Saturday January 21 AEDT) on the west front of the US Capitol. After being sworn in, they’ll travel down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House, where they will watch the Inaugural Parade.
HOW CAN I WATCH?
In Australia, major broadcast networks will show the ceremony, and News Corp Australia will run rolling coverage of the inauguration.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE INAUGURATION CEREMONY?
The 58th presidential inauguration, themed “Uniquely American”, will open with a call to order from Missouri Senator Roy Blunt, followed by religious readings and invocations, and music from the Missouri State University Chorale.
Pence will take the vice presidential oath of office, administered by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, followed by a performance by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Trump will then take the presidential oath of office, administered by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.
