Kathmandu, Nepal 120-day lockdown ended at midnight on Tuesday. A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Monday has decided to end the ongoing lockdown from midnight on Tuesday.
The government had launched a crackdown on coronavirus (Covid-19) infection on April 25. Initially, the eight-day lockdown was repeated several times and lasted till June 10.
After that, the government allowed private vehicles to operate in the Jor Vijor system and to operate the shops, gradually loosening the locks.
The lockout was completely removed from midnight on Tuesday. Yuvaraj Khatiwada informed.
Despite the removal of the lockdown, the government has stated that other measures taken for the prevention, control and treatment of Covid-19 have not remained the same.
Some areas will be opened gradually
The Jor Vijor system implemented in private vehicles has been removed from 6 July and the decision to run government offices in two shifts has also been revoked. Offices are no longer open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Similar hotels and restaurants have been allowed to open from July 15. However, the government spokesperson and the Minister of Communications and Finance, Dr. Yuvaraj Khatiwada informed.
Domestic and international flights and medium and long distance inter-district transport services will also be open from September 20.
Similarly, student admission and examination activities have been exempted from September 20. But educational institutions will not open. The Council of Ministers has decided that training and preliminary games of international sports can also be held from September 20.
What are the restrictions?
In addition, restrictions have been maintained in some areas. Educational institutions, seminars, demonstrations and conferences, cinema halls, dance bars, entertainment venues, salons, beauty parlors, gyms, health clubs, group games, religious sites, libraries, museums and zoo food are not yet open.
The ban on the movement of non-Nepalese citizens from the 20 checkpoints specified by the government will remain in force till July 13.
