Kathmandu. The death toll in a road accident at Thuriya Jungle in Rapti Sonari Gaonpalika-2 of Banke along the East-West Highway has reached 12 and 21 people have been injured.
A force vehicle heading to Salyan from Nepalgunj carrying people entering Nepal through India's Rupadia border crossing met with an accident at around 12 last night. According to Inspector Hridayash Sapkota of the District Police Office, Banke, 11 died on the spot and another died at the Bheri Zonal Hospital, Nepalgunj.
According to Banke Police, the vehicle (Na 5 Kha 5995) collided with a truck (Ba 4 Kha 9064). According to Chief District Officer Ram Bahadur Kurumwang, the vehicle collided with the truck uncontrollably as it was speeding.
All the dead and injured have been taken to Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj. Inspector Sapkota said that preparations were being made to refer the injured to other places as their condition was critical.
The deceased have been identified as 11 men and one woman. They have not been identified. Initially, people from Salyan were said to be in the vehicle, but later people from Dang and Rolpa were also found in the vehicle, said Inspector Sapkota. He said, "Identification process is going on. It would have been quicker to identify him if he had bought a ticket and got into a car. '
