Rome, - The Ero Stranger campaign has elaborated some amendments to be presented to the Chamber of Deputies regarding the regularization measure for migrant workers.
"The goal - reads a note released by the network's promoters - is to try to widen the audience as much as possible.
First of all, we want to allow employers from all economic sectors, and not only from agriculture and domestic and care work, to be able to hire and bring foreign workers into good standing. If the objective of the government measure is to combat invisibility and illegality, why limit it to a few sectors when the presence of foreign workers is essential for construction, logistics, manufacturing and in many other areas of work? It is clear that the guarantee of an employment contract is sufficient to ensure that those who emerge from working legally, get out of the margins and contribute to society, regardless of the sector in which they work. "
"Another point to be amended - continues the note - concerns the documentation that the foreign worker must submit to demonstrate his presence in Italy before 8 March 2020 and access the measure: we want to guarantee the possibility of demonstrating this presence to all the people who have the requirements to comply. Indispensable then to provide a window for the presentation of the wider application, which goes beyond July 15, given the long times of approval and conversion of the relaunch decree and the lack of clarity on the procedures to be followed.
We therefore turn to the majority to accept our proposed changes in Parliament and commit themselves to improving the intervention of the government whose effectiveness, with the limits currently present, is likely to be weakened. If you really want to be incisive and achieve concrete results, in the interest of the country, you need to give as many people as possible the opportunity to live and work with dignity and to be recognized as rights and protections ".
